Abstract
Cases of malignant giant cell tumor we presented in this paper posseses certain clinical as well as pathological features that are distinct from those observed in the more conventionally recognized variants of Iung cancer.
Persons with giant cell carcinoma of the Iung died at a significantly younger age and exhibited wider dissemination of the tumor evidenced by the number of organs involved with metastasis than patients with other histologic variants of ordinary primary carcinoma.
The tumors are extremely anaplastic and are composed chiefly of pleomorphic multinucleated giant cells. Their histologic appearance may in some part imitate closely lesions of sarcomatous nature but special stain disclose no myofibrils cross striation or reticulin formation. Histologic diagnosis of giant cell carcinoma is based on clinical features characteristic morphology and special technique of tissue culture.
Although the exact histogenesis of the tumor remains a controversial problem some author suggests epithelial origin.
Available Iiteratures were reviewed a discussion regarding incidence, clinical symptoms and signs, pathologic features, and metastasis.
